Dental Bridge

The stress that a missing tooth can cause is a fact we all know.

The appearance of your smile directly affects your self-confidence. But don't worry; your dentist can easily fill the gap left by a missing tooth with a bridge.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a prosthetic tooth that resembles a natural tooth and is used to fill the gaps between teeth. Its structure and application method can vary depending on its location in the mouth. Essentially, a dental bridge consists of an artificial tooth called a pontic. The teeth that secure the bridge and are bonded to the teeth on either side of the gap are called abutments.

Different materials can be used in pontic production; however, porcelain is preferred because it easily matches the color of natural teeth and provides a satisfactory aesthetic appearance.

Types of Dental Bridges Offered at Terkuran Clinic

Traditional Dental Bridge

  • Consists of multiple crowns (usually three or four).

  • Requires healthy teeth or implants on both sides of the gap.

  • The middle crowns fill the gap, while the end crowns are bonded to the adjacent teeth or implants.

  • Generally suitable for back teeth.

Maryland Bridge

  • Attached to the back of adjacent teeth with two wing-like metal pieces.

  • Ideal for front teeth; cannot withstand the high pressure of molars.

Cantilever Bridge

  • Uses a single crown attached to one adjacent tooth to fill the gap.

  • Especially suitable for canine teeth and the spaces next to them.

  • Cannot withstand the high pressure of back teeth.

Treatment Process

  • Oral Health Checkup
The dentist will evaluate your oral health before starting the dental bridge application.

  • Void and Structure Analysis
For the bridge to fit properly, there must be teeth or implants on both sides of the gap. If they are missing, implants may be recommended.

  • Material Selection

    • Aesthetics, durability and allergy history are taken into consideration.

    • Terkuran Clinic facilitates the selection of the most appropriate material with a detailed guide.

  • Measurement Taking and Laboratory Process
The impression is sent to the laboratory and the bridge is prepared within a few weeks.

CEREC Dental Bridge Technology

Thanks to CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics), a dental bridge can be fabricated in a single appointment. Using artificial intelligence and 3D printing technology, a dental bridge made of ceramic material can be created in just one to two hours.

Treatment costs vary depending on the type of bridge, material selection, and application method. The CEREC method is generally faster than the traditional method, but the cost can vary.
